Attention Senior Parents:
We will be offering another Financial Aid and Scholarship Meeting on Monday, February 24. MSU Financial Aid counselors will be here to give a brief overview of the financial aid application and scholarships from 5:30 - 6:00 pm. Then from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, we will have a work session for you to work on the financial aid application or scholarship applications with the help of the financial aid counselors. Your senior does not need to be attending MSU to come to this session. The information will apply to any college/university. We will be meeting in the HHS Media Center.
Congratulations to Hazel Dolff for signing to play college volleyball! We are so proud of you and all your accomplishments!

January 9th - Weather Update
Due to ongoing hazardous weather conditions and concern for the safety of our students, staff, and families, all Henrietta Independent School District campuses will be CLOSED on FRIDAY, January 10, 2025. Based on the best information available to us, the roads would not be safe to travel on until close to lunch time, so the decision was made to cancel school.
Sub-varsity basketball has been cancelled, but we do plan to start the girls varsity basketball game at 4:30 p.m., followed immediately by the boys varsity basketball game in Henrietta.
We hope you are all safe and warm, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, January 13th!

HHS "Culture of Kindness" winner for the month of December is Shelby Coyle! The person who nominated her said, "She gave one of her folders to a student that didn't have one." Such a selfless, kind gesture! Shelby always has a bright smile for everyone she greets. Thank you for spreading kindness at HHS, Shelby! Keep it going!
Come out next Monday and congratulate Magee Fain on her signing to play volleyball at the next level. We are excited and proud of you, Magee!
Be Weather Aware
HISD Weather Guidelines
Any time there is a concern for an inclement weather event, Henrietta ISD uses established protocols to help drive the decision-making process to alter the school day. The concern for student and staff safety always serves as the main driver when these decisions are made, and we always strive to err on the side of caution. Each weather incident is unique and will demand unique considerations.
We know that when we alter the school day, it has a significant impact on families. We also want to ensure that we are making decisions that minimize any negative impact on student learning. When there is no safety concern in getting to school, we want to make sure that our students are at school. This is the balance we constantly weigh when making school closure decisions.
Important Contact Information
To ensure that we have the most current phone information for weather-related emergencies, please ensure your Ascender Parent Portal Family Access account is updated whenever your contact information changes ( link is HERE).
Decision-Making Process
During inclement weather situations, decisions to open or close schools are based on careful analysis of multiple factors, including:
- Consultations with local emergency management agencies and the National Weather Service
- Road conditions information from transportation staff, local public works officials, and law enforcement agencies
- Amount of snow or ice accumulated and projected accumulations
- Building conditions, including electricity and heat status
- Parking lot and sidewalk conditions
- Temperature and wind chill factors, considering students who walk to school or wait at bus stops
- Weather predictions and ongoing precipitation
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When is the decision made?
A: We strive to make decisions by 5 a.m. or earlier on the day of the weather event. Information will be posted on our website and automated communications will begin by 5:30 a.m. If weather forecasts are certain, we may make the decision the evening before to help families plan ahead.

- Henrietta ISD's automated calling system
- District website
- Social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
- Local TV and radio stations ( Channel 6 KAUZ and Channel 3 KFDX)
- Henrietta ISD app notifications
Please note: The district does NOT send out communications if there are no changes to the regular school day or after-school activities.
Q: Who makes the decision?
A: The superintendent is responsible for the final decision, based on recommendations from district staff, including the safety and security department, facility services, and our transportation provider.
Q: What should I do if I know bad weather is expected?
A: Because weather updates can happen rapidly and to avoid miscommunication, please check the Henrietta ISD website for the most up-to-date and accurate information.

Henrietta ISD Community,
We’ve received several phone calls about a comment community members misheard on the radio earlier today. Listeners thought “pray for Henrietta ISD” was said, which caused a great deal of concern. I want to assure you that is not what was said, and there is no cause for concern. I talked directly with the person that was live on the radio station.
I appreciate the families who reached out to ensure everything was ok. It takes all of us to keep our schools safe, and I am grateful for our community’s continued support of HISD.
Thank you,
Henrietta ISD Superintendent
