September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we are excited to promote "Go Gold For Childhood Cancer Awareness Month"! HISD students and staff are encouraged to wear gold on Wednesday, September 25th in honor of all area children who have been affected by Childhood Cancer. We would love for our entire community to "Go Gold" with us! Cow Palace has generously designed a T-shirt for the day and will be donating the proceeds to Cook Children's Hospital! Order a shirt, wear your gold on September 25th, and post pics of you and your family, friends, and co-workers on 9/25 to show how you are "Going Gold"! Use the hashtags #GoGold and #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth. Next week, we will be sharing different facts and resources on our social media platforms about Childhood Cancer. Let's show our support for all of the area children who have been affected! To order T-Shirt: https://ranchswag.com/products/go-gold-for-childhood-cancer-awareness-2024

The Kinder Reveal was a fun event held at HES for kindergartners. It occurred during the first three days of school. Kindergarten students rotated between four classrooms allowing them to become familiar with the teachers and different groups of children. Teachers were able to observe who worked well together to better divide these elementary students into classrooms. On the last day, each child opened a package containing a colored dog tag representing his or her new teacher. PALs were in attendance and created excitement as the kindergartners were escorted to their classes. Each room was decorated with a corresponding color theme. The Kinder Reveal proved to be a success and enjoyable for all.

Henrietta Bearcats! It has been another great week in HISD, and I want to share a few updates with you as we head into the weekend. Progress continues on our bond projects, some that are visible, and some that may have caught you off guard if you were at the football game last week! The new stadium lights we were able to install because of bond funds can be turned on and off very quickly, unlike the old stadium lights that would take a long time to come back on. So when we score a touchdown, the lights flash on and off, which made some people think we were having a lighting malfunction! Keep an eye out for that at the next home game on Sept 20 vs. Seymour! That is Pioneer Reunion Night, and we hope to see you there! You will also notice the track surface has been torn up in preparation for new asphalt, which we expect to be installed next week. This is going to be a great surface for our track athletes, and of course for our cheerleaders at football games. I am sure you will see me out there walking to get a few steps in, and I invite you to take advantage of the track as well once the surface is completed! We are grateful for the support of our community as these bond projects come to life. It is a great time to be a Bearcat! Jaime Clark
