Impact of Social Media and Electronic Cigarettes on Teens

Informational Parent Meeting
November 15, 2018 at 6:00 PM
High School Cafeteria

Henrietta Junior High and High School are offering a joint informational meeting on Nov. 15th at 6:00 PM in the High School Cafeteria.  Our goal is to provide parents the tools and tips for starting important conversations with their students and monitoring their habits and behaviors for factors that could have a negative impact on their future.

The focus of this meeting will be on teen use of Social Media and Electronic Cigarettes.  Parents have seen the familiar glow of a phone screen on their teens face; but, what are they doing and what will the impact be on them in the future.  E-Cigarettes are becoming more socially acceptable; but do teens truly know what is in them or what it is doing to their bodies.

During this meeting, we will provide parents with tips and facts about both social media and e-cigarettes.  In addition, we will hear from DPS Sgt. Dan Buesing and FBC Henrietta Youth Minister Sam Powers.  Both have seen the direct impact social media and e-cigarettes are having on our teens today.

This meeting will be a come and go event.  We are using this opportunity as a starting point for an ongoing conversation about the issues we face each day.
